I have loved Jennifer Aniston ever since she turned up at the imaginatively named Central Perk in a wedding dress. Overnight, a generation changed, idioms were born, and mid-sentence word emphasis became the norm. Could I have been any more devastated when it ended? ('It's like the end of an era!' - M. Geller)
Since she landed that iconic role that made every girl growing up in the 90s rush to the hairdressers to don 'The Rachel', she has been the only Friends actor to have successfully kept up her body of work and transition seamlessly into movies. She has racked up more awards and nominations than any of her fellow co-stars (she has won 15, Liza Kudrow is second with 5 wins). If you're still not convinced, ask yourself: where are they now? 'Joey', 'Courgar Town'... oh, do I let me stop before my Central Perk novelty mug commits suicide on the sneeze muffin.
The below transcript is the reason, word for word, why I respect and admire this woman. I suggest you watch the whole video; hear about how she got the role that changed her life, why the Friends cast were flown to Vegas and forced into a casino before they began shooting. Learn how they marked the last day ever of filming, and what she thinks the secret to comedy is.
Personally, I love her work, and regardless of your own view, her commitment and respect for her industry makes her one of the greatest working actresses around and wholly deserving of her star on the Walk of Fame. #TeamAniston
Interview:
James Lipton: Your movie career began before Friends left the air.
Jennifer: Yes.
James: How were you able to shoot She’s The One and ‘Til There Was You?
Jennifer: They let me out of the schedule. I worked two days a week on Friends and the other, I worked through the weekend.
James: So you must have amazing energy. What do you want?
(Jennifer knocks on the table, as if knocking on wood)
Jennifer: Sorry? What do I want?
James: Are you worried about maybe not getting another job?
Jennifer: No! I’m just grateful that I’m asked back. You have to be. Right?
James: But you’re a big star –
Jennifer: So? That’s -
James: – people love you and love you for good reason –
Jennifer – that could go like that! (clicks her fingers)
James: What?
Jennifer: That could go like that (clicks again). So you have to appreciate it every single minute that you able to do what you love to do.
James: Good for you.
